I explore this question through synesthetic perception, creating personal Symbols that give form to what is usually impossible to see.

Hello, my name is Marney and I perceive the subtle sound of a person and translate it into visual form, creating a personal Symbol to explore, experience, and connect with yourself in a new way.

Who is Marney?

Marney is an artist and researcher of perception who explores this question through synesthetic experience, symbolic systems, and visual art.

She perceives unique inner sound of a person and translates it into a visual form — a personal Symbol.

Her practice exists at the intersection of contemporary art, synesthesia, sacred geometry, ancient symbolism, meditation, and contemplative practices.

At its core is a fascination with a simple question:

How do we create the reality we experience and where does that reality begin?

Is reality shaped by the brain, thought, memory, and perception? Or is there something beneath thought, an underlying rhythm, frequency, or inner structure from which experience begins to take form?

Through her work, Marney investigates how differently people perceive the world, where individual realities begin to overlap, and whether a visual language can create a meeting point between otherwise invisible inner worlds.

Over many years, she has developed a visual language of more than a thousand original Symbols.

The system does not belong to a single cultural or symbolic tradition. It draws instead from sacred geometry, archetypal forms, ancient symbolism, contemporary perception, and Marney’s own synesthetic experience.

Each Symbol is created as a visual expression of something normally invisible: an individual structure, rhythm, or inner sound.

It can be experienced as an artwork, a meditative focus, an amulet, a talisman, or a personal tool for reflection, or even tattoo.

More than an image, it becomes a way of returning to an aspect of oneself and seeing it from a different perspective.

Beyond the conventional portrait

This is where Marney’s practice moves beyond conventional portraiture.

She is not interested only in how a person looks. She explores how a person sounds and what that sound might look like.

Her work is also an investigation of her own perception. She studies why certain forms, structures, sounds, and meanings become visible to her while remaining invisible to others, then translates these perceptions into a language that another person can encounter and interpret for themselves.

The Symbol becomes a key: not an answer, but an invitation to see differently.

Marney does not claim to have a final explanation for the nature of reality.

Instead, she creates visual forms that allow the question to become personal:

Who is creating the world we experience? The “I”? The brain? Mind? Thought? The vibration beneath thought? Or perhaps all of them at once?

Her work lives in the space between art and ritual, perception and mystery, neuroscience and metaphysics, personal experience and collective symbolism.
